Welcome to our second issue of Countdown 2005, the quarterly newsletter of the Microcredit Summit Campaign. This issue features an interview with Brian Atwood on USAID's Microenterprise Initiative; a touching speech by Muhammad Yunus, Managing Director of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and Co-Chair of the Microcredit Summit Council of Practitioners; a lesson in best practice on creating sustainable institutions; a discussion with Freedom from Hunger affiliates on their Institutional Action Plan; and the inspiring story of Lola Tasya in The Philippines, whose small loan helped her kerosene lamp business.
