The State of the 2009 Microcredit Summit Campaign Report Launch!

Dear Members,

The State of the Microcredit Summit Campaign Report 2009 was successfully launched on January 26, 2009 in New York City.  The report carried the exciting news that more than 106 million of the world's poorest families received a microloan in 2007, surpassing a goal set by the Campaign ten years earlier.   Here is what Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Grameen Bank Founder Muhammad Yunus said about the news: "This is a tremendous achievement that many people thought was far too difficult to reach.  What makes it even more remarkable is that loans to more than 100 million very poor families now touch the lives of more than half a billion family members around the world.  That is half of the world's poorest people."

We would like to thank all of our members for your role in this achievement and for your continued support of the Microcredit Summit Campaign. Last year, over 1,000 people and institutions contributed to the production of the State of the Microcredit Summit Campaign Report 2009. Without these institutions and the individuals within them, especially the practitioners, there would be no report.

On behalf of the entire Campaign I extend our deepest gratitude.

Keep up the good work!
