Welcome to the May 2006 issue of Microcredit Summit E-News, a publication of the Microcredit Summit Campaign.

The second Latin America/Caribbean Region Microcredit Summit Meeting of Councils (LACRMS) was held in Santiago, Chile April 19-22, 2005. 1,100 delegates from 38 countries attended. This issue features an excerpt from a panel discussion on the paper Building Better Lives: Sustainable Integration of Microfinance with Education in Child Survival, Reproductive Health, and HIV/AIDS Prevention for the Poorest Entrepreneurs. Also included is an excerpt of a keynote address by Microcredit Summit Campaign Director Sam Daley-Harris at an ING seminar held February 2006 in Amsterdam. The seminar focused on the role of global banks in microfinance.
