Volume 1, Issue 4: September 2003Welcome to the September 2003 issue of Microcredit Summit E-News, a publication of the Microcredit Summit Campaign. On November 10, 2002, more than 2,000 participants from over 100 countries gathered at the Microcredit Summit +5 in New York City. Six papers were commissioned for the Microcredit Summit +5 and published by Kumarian Press in a book titled, Pathways Out of Poverty: Innovations in Microfinance for the Poorest Families. Each paper was discussed in plenary session. This issue features an excerpt from the Microcredit Summit +5 joint plenary discussion on the topics, Empowering Women Through Microfinance and Innovations from the Field. Also included is a presentation of the Institutional Action Plan of BRAC, Bangladesh.
