Welcome to the July 2003 issue of Microcredit Summit E-News, a publication of the Microcredit Summit Campaign.

On November 10, 2002, more than 2,000 participants from over 100 countries gathered at the Microcredit Summit +5 in New York City. Six papers were commissioned for the Microcredit Summit +5 and published by Kumarian Press in a book titled, Pathways Out of Poverty: Innovations in Microfinance for the Poorest Families. Each paper was discussed in plenary session. This issue features an excerpt from the Microcredit Summit +5 plenary discussion on the topic, Financing Microfinance for Poverty Reduction. Also included is a summary of a workshop discussion on the topic, Transparency on the Depth of Outreach – Indicators for Programs Performance and New Efforts to Cost-Effectively Measure Absolute Poverty.
