Welcome to the May 2003 issue of Microcredit Summit E-News, a publication of the Microcredit Summit Campaign

On November 10, 2002, more than 2,000 participants from more than 100 countries gathered at the Microcredit Summit +5 in New York City. Six papers were commissioned for the Microcredit Summit +5 and published by Kumarian Press in a book titled, Pathways Out of Poverty: Innovations in Microfinance for the Poorest Families. Each paper was discussed in plenary session. This issue of the newsletter includes an excerpt from the Microcredit Summit +5 plenary, Policies, Regulations and Systems That Promote Sustainable Financial Services to the Poor and Poorest An overview of the State of the Microcredit Summit Campaign Report 2002 is also included and provides insight into the progress of the campaign thus far.
