Welcome to the inaugural issue of Microcredit Summit E-News, a publication of the Microcredit Summit Campaign.

On November 10, 2002, more than 2,000 participants from more than 100 countries gathered at the Microcredit Summit +5 in New York City. Six papers were commissioned for the Microcredit Summit +5 and published by Kumarian Press in a book titled, Pathways Out of Poverty: Innovations in Microfinance for the Poorest Families. Each paper was discussed in plenary session. This and future issues of the newsletter will include excerpts from each of the Microcredit Summit +5 plenaries and from selected workshop sessions.
